The Commando Parachute Group ((フランス語:Groupement des Commandos Parachutistes, GCP)) are the elite operational units within the 11th Parachute Brigade of the French Army that are within the "circle" of authority of the Commandement des Opérations Spéciales. These Commandos form within the various Paratrooper Regiments of France, elite sections of Chute opérationnelle and commando instructors, attached in general to the reconnaissance and support company (CEA) or the logistics and command company (CCL). In case of global rising conflicts, these commandos are dropped ahead of forward ground forces. == History ==
The GCP were founded in 1965 as << Équipes de Saut Ouverture à Grande Hauteur >>, SOGH ( ''High Altitude Jump Teams'' or ''HAHO Teams'' ). On January 1, 1982; the unit was renamed ''Commandos de Recherche et d'Action en Profondeur'', CRAP ( Deep Action and Reconnaissance Commandos ), a designation nomination which was conserved till 1999. In 1969, the Deep Action and Reconnaissance Commandos ( CRAP ) of the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment participate for the first time in Tchad.
